Earlier this morning news came out of a fatal accident on the highway in Montreal's West Island.
Saint-Jean and Brunswick were closed this morning to all traffic due to this accident.
As more details have been coming out all morning, we have some video news coverage for you to see.
Here is what happened.
Shortly after 3 a.m., a 26-year-old motorcyclist had a collision with a van in Pointe-Claire.
The driver was immediately taken to the hospital and eventually lost his life from his injuries. The van's driver and their passengers both escaped the accident with no injuries.
Here is a video covering the fatal crash.
Witnesses who saw this happen said that the motorcyclist ran through a red light going north on St. Jean when they were struck by a van at the corner of Brunswick west.
A perimeter was set up by the police, and traffic was closed between Labrosse, St. Jean and the TransCanada highway on Brunswick between St. Jean and Selkirk.
This is a harsh reminder that road safety and caution is very important... and also that Motorcycles, as fun as they can be, are also very dangerous.
My thoughts go out to this young man's family and friends.
