The discovery of knives on a Grade 3 student at a Laval school has caused concern, amongst parents and teachers, about the prevalence of bullying on school premises.
The grandmother of an eight-year old girl from the Père-Vimont elementary school was worried when informed that one of the boys in her granddaughter's class was carrying a knife.
The boy was dealt promptly with by principal. However, it was later revealed that he also had a kitchen knife in his locker.
At first, it was thought that the knife in the locker was the one that had been confiscated. However, enquiries revealed that it was, in fact, the boy's second knife.
The student in question has been suspended.
The parents of children attending the schools are concerned that this episode might only be a symptom of a deeper bullying disease.
