Since David Letterman has moved away from the Late Night scene, he's been working on a Netflix show called "My Next Guest Needs No Introduction," where he interviews truly the most impressive names, not only in show business but in general.

Past guests include Jay-Z, Malala Yousafzai, Tina Fey and others. Now, according to TMZ, we can expect to see Ellen Degeneres on the next season of the Netflix talk-show series.

And what Ellen had to share while talking with Letterman is shocking and truly upsetting.

WARNING: The story below contains descriptions of sexual assault, which may be difficult for some people. If you or someone you know has been the victim of sexual assault, contact the Assaulted Women's Helpline <1.866.863.0511> or find them online here.

According to the new TMZ report, Ellen used her time speaking with Letterman to share her own experience with sexual assault... at the hands of her own stepfather.

The man was married to Ellen's mother, Betty Degeneres, while Ellen was a teenager, and he used an opportunity while he was alone with Ellen to take advantage of her.

Ellen's stepfather waited until her mother was out of town to then molest Ellen under the guise of a breast exam, TMZ reports, noting that he used the excuse of having found a lump in Ellen's mother's breast to then exam Ellen's breasts when she was only 15 or 16 years old.

She then goes on to express her anger and frustration with herself, for feeling like she let it happen, a feeling that many women can relate to after having been sexually abused.

However, Ellen felt it necessary to share this story so that other girls may avoid the situation themselves.

Ellen then acknowledges how often this happens to young girls who feel they have no voice, can't say "stop" or "no" and then have to live with the burden of that experience for the rest of their lives.

My heart goes out to Ellen, not only for experiencing this traumatic experience but having to relive it while sharing it with Letterman and inevitably the world.

She has done a great thing for young girls the world over by showing them that they're not alone if they've been through something like this and that it's never their fault. Hopefully, her story also helps to give a girl the voice to say "NO" or "STOP" if they are ever in this kind of terribly unfortunate situation.
