Netflix has recently released the orignal film Bird Box starring Sandra Bullock and it is clearly one of the Internet's favourite Netflix orignals of the year. One look at Twitter and you'll be bombarded with tweets full of the little blindfolded emoji.
Narcity wrote that some viewers have reported that the film is too terrifying to even finish. For others, the film has spurred meme and gif gold.
But luckily for you, I've compiled some of the most hilarious tweets below, as well as other commentary about the new Netflix original. Don't worry, this is a spoiler-free zone.
TL;DR Netflix's Bird Box was released last week and Twitter is going crazy over it. Tweets below.
The film is set in a post-apocalyptic world where everyone is wearing... blindfolds. When the film begins you don't know why, only that if people take the blindfolds off they may die.
Clearly this film got suspense right, because people on Twitter were shook.
That movie “bird box” was so good but so stressful! I need a whole Nap lol— Kayla (@TrackCutie) December 21, 2018
It's definitely the kind of movie you want to watch with a friend by your side because the suspense is real.
30 minutes into Bird Box & I’m too stressed. I hate scary movies for this exact reason. My anxiety too high.— Courtney (@CourtEWhitaker) December 21, 2018
Even singer Kehlani took to Twitter to share her reaction to the movie:
bird box finna make me chew holes in my cheeks— Kehlani (@Kehlani) December 23, 2018
It's Internet moments like this that make me so glad "reaction gifs" are a thing.

Many people compared the movie to other suspenseful post-apocalyptic or dystopian shows and movies like The Walking Dead or A Quiet Place.
bird box: similar to the walking dead but x100 better— Sophia Coronado (@sophiacoro10) December 21, 2018
a quiet place (2018) and bird box (2018) are more than just about monsters and fears. they're both metaphors about what family really is and all the extremes you go to as parents to protect your children pic.twitter.com/X21BcYX7Hd— j (@mspaulscn) December 21, 2018
The film was based on a novel of the same name, released in 2014. Some people thought the adaptation was flawless.
DAYUM I like Tom a lot more in the movie than I did in the book 😍 #BirdBox— Kerri Adler 🎄🕎 (@Kerri_Lauren) December 21, 2018
They made #BirdBox into a movie?! That book was TERRIFYING. I read it sitting on the front porch on a drizzly day and had to keep looking up and reminding myself that I wasn’t actually traveling blindly down a river in serious danger. Looking forward to watching this!— Christina ✍🏻 (@chuffwrites) December 21, 2018
But of course, some people are sticking to the old adage that the book is always better than the movie.
Much of the discussion in the Twitterverse was around Sandra Bullock and her amazing performance.

Overall, the film seems to be a complete hit and everyone who has watched can't help but share how amazing and intense it is.
YALL BIRD BOX IS A MASTERPIECE— 𝙰𝚕𝚎𝚡 (@versacesq) December 21, 2018
While the film only has a 65% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, many home viewers are giving much higher praise, including this dude:
Or this guy:
Ummm #birdbox touched on so many different things that I believe it’s one of the best movies of 2018. Key Notes: Sandra got some Chocolate/ Listen to what your mother says/ don’t open the fucking door/ keep it 💯 and you’ll stay alive/ during apocalypse, always find liquor.— Bravo Whore (@BravoWhore2U) December 21, 2018
It's clear that the film is more than a slasher or a jump-scare factory. The story seems to have touched a lot of viewers, as well.
Thank god for reaction gifs.
While I'm finding Netflix original TV shows to be going dowhill, this tweet definitely shows that some people are very pleased with the film side of Netflix originals.
Another great thing about post-apocalyptic stories is the "what if," imagining it happening in our lifetime.
#BirdBox is crazy as hell. the scary part is i can see that happening forreal.— BRECAPRI (@__BreCapri) December 21, 2018
This film is just another addition to Sandra Bullock's long career of versatility. She's hilarious and emotional - what can't she do?
