TL;DR HBO has released the teaser trailer for season 8 of Game of Thrones and it is full of hints and mysteries about the upcoming season.
To recap, the season seven finale set the show up for a dramatic conclusion. If you haven't taken the newest season in, this is your spoiler alert warning!
Jon Snow (aka Aegon Targaryen) is the true heir to the iron throne, Daenerys is now his lover/aunt, the Night King destroyed the wall with Viserion, and Cersei, now without Jaime, is preparing to betray her rivals in the fight against the Army of the Dead.
The trailer only added more drama with some pretty unnerving hints.
Here are the biggest takeaways:
Jon, Arya, and Sansa might all die...
In the trailer, Jon, Arya, and Sansa approach what appear to be their own tombs in the crypts of Winterfell.
Could this mean the death of the three fan-favourite siblings?
Or Jon may survive the wars alone...
Fans on Reddit were quick to debate the similarities and differences between the trio and their statues. While Arya and Sansa look the same age as they do in the trailer, Jon's statue seems to be of an older man. Or not...
this statue really looks like a old version of jon snow 👀 pic.twitter.com/SS2Etq3oz9— cyn (@valyriansblood) January 14, 2019
Perhaps these statues have been left by Bran to show his ability to communicate with the past, as some Reddit users theorized.
The entire trailer is just a vision of Bran's...
WHERE IS BRAN? DID BRAN TURN INTO THAT FEATHER? WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?!? I AM FREAKING OUT MAN! #GameOfThrones— Lady Stoneheart (@LSHNorthAF) January 14, 2019
Many fans are quick to remember that the last teaser trailer for the show was made entirely of footage that was never actually included in the episodes of the show.
So while these scenes are certainly enticing, they don't necessarily speak to the action we're bound to see this season.
Game of Thrones creators were sure to release a teaser, just enough to get us all guessing without really giving anything away.
And because of all the ambiguity, fans have flocked to Twitter to share their theories about the most mysterious hint of all:
The feather you see in the new Game Of Thrones trailer is the same feather King Robert Baratheon placed on Lyanna Stark's crypt statue in the very first episode of the show. #ForTheThrone pic.twitter.com/XOuIvPun2r— Austin Grant (@AustinPlanet) January 14, 2019
Clearly, everyone knows this feather carries some serious symbolism.
And it's officially getting more attention than the feather in Forrest Gump.

We've still got three months to wait before the show actually hits the small screen, so until then, you'll just have to occupy yourself with this teaser, fan theories, and re-runs.
Season 8 premiers on April 14th on HBO.
