But not much attention is being paid to the victims of the attacks.
Mr Soufiane was a 57 year old man from Morocco who moved to Canada 30 years ago.
He owned a halal shop in Sainte-Foy and was an important member of the local Muslim community. He helped many newcomers in Quebec City to get established.
Mr Belkacemi was a 60 year old man from Algeria who moved to Canada in the 1980s.
He was a teacher at Quebec's Laval University. His wife, a fellow professor, was also at the mosque during Sunday night's prayers, but she was unharmed.
Mamadou Tanou and Ibrahima Barry
Mamadou Tanou and Ibrahima were brothers aged 42 and 39.
The two men were from Guinea in West Africa and worked as IT workers
Mr. Hassane was a 41 year old man from Algeria.
He was a programmer for the Quebec government and a father of three.
Mr. Thabti was a 44 year old man from Tunisia who moved to Quebec 10 years ago.
He worked in a pharmacy, was married and was the father of two young children.
