The Cannabis Act in Canada has passed into law, but you already know this.

It's happened. It passed. Let's not waste any more time on that. You can read about Senate's vote on the bill, and see Quebec's own bylaws passing right here.

Earlier I announced the extra 8-12 weeks of provisionary time for provinces to get their plans and individuals laws together. This would mean legal weed would not be available until about September 2018.

Tomorrow is the first day of summer (yay!), and as that comes Justin Trudeau has made his end of session speech today at 4:30 p.m. out of Ottawa.

The whole event was streamed, and you can watch it below.

Finally, Justin Trudeau and his cabinet have set an official date. Not a span of weeks. Not just a rough date 3 months from now... but an actual, concrete date.

Let's start the celebrations. 4/20 the next wave is set to wash over Canada with sweet cannabis as of October 17, 2018.

Still, there is much work to do. Our law enforcement needs to figure out exactly how they will go about checking for sobriety amongst drivers. There will be lots of debates revolving around provincial cultivation laws - as it stands Quebec does not want locals growing their own trees at home.

There's also the questions about public consumption, which really falls on individual city mayors and politicians to decide. This, so far, has been very divided.

None the less, now that the official date is set for October 17, 2018, there will be much more exciting news to come out of Montreal, too! We already have one of the first major festivals in Canada that will be dedicated to all this cannabis.

There's also this new company that will be offering a variety of pot-themed tours to locals and tourists.

This is the beginning of a new era. History has been made. Canada is one of two nations in the world to legalize Marijuana for the whole country, ending over 90 years of prohibition.

Just watch, in the next year someone, somewhere, will create a new Canadian strain named after Justin Trudeau. This WILL be Trudeau's biggest legacy.

I'm almost sad I didn't vote for him.... but then again, no I'm really not.
