Montreal Is Hosting A Free Month-Long "Street Art Festival" In 2017
Thirty days of art.
2017 may be eight months away, but that doesn't mean tat Montreal hasn't begun gearing up for its 375th anniversary. And while a slew of projects and events have already been scheduled for the city's birthday, a new (and rather exciting) one can now be added to the list.
Come July of 2017, Montreal will play host to a gigantic "open air theatre event" where artists from around the world will perform right on the roads of the city, reports La Presse in an interview with organizers.
Advertised as the largest event of its kind in North America, artists from Australia, Spain, France, Canada, and other nations will make up the list of performers. These artists will provide 800 street performances for any and all who wish to watch, every day for a full month.
While a month-long series of street shows is quite the initiative, the event is but one of many scheduled throughout the entire year of 2017. Special activations, parties, and performances are set to go on all year-round, with a new theme for all 4 seasons.
Celebrations for Montreal's 375th anniversary are set to officially begin on December 21 of this year, and will continue through the end of 2017. For more info on what's already been announced and what you can expect, head to the La Presse feature here.
