Montreal Roads Will Be An Absolute Mess This Weekend

Know which routes to avoid.

The long-awaited weekend is finally here! 

Like most of you, I can't wait to curl up with a warm blanket, watch some movies and catch up on my favourite shows.

Or maybe you're planning on taking a road trip outside of Montreal or drive through the city to stock up on some stuff from Costco. 

Unfortunately, Montreal roads are going to be nightmarishly congested this weekend. While fewer people are embarking on vacation, the September influx of people to the city means countles smore cars on the road.

To help you plan your route, we've composed a complete list of closures for the next two days:

Highway 10

  • Westbound (Bonaventure Expressway) to downtown-Pierre-Dupuy Ave, exit 2 is closed 
  • Eastbound between exit 4 (A-15 north) and Île des Sœurs / Champlain Bridge is completely closed- from 4am Friday to 5am Monday. 

Highway 13

  • Ramp A-13 North to A-40 West is completely closed
  • Ramp A-13 South to A-40 East is completely closed.

Highway 15

  • Southbound exit 57 north is completely closed from 4am Friday to 5am Monday 
  • Northbound between exit 58 and the entrance from Édouard-Montpetit Blvd. completely closed from midnight Friday to 5am Monday 
  • Northbound exit (61) and entrance of Atwater Ave. closed until end of October
  • Eastbound between Galt St. and Highway 15 completely closed from midnight Friday to 5am Monday
  • Ramp from A-15 South (Décarie) to A-15 Champlain Bridge is completely closed from midnight Friday to 5am Monday
  • Ramp from A-15 North to A-20 West is completely closed from midnight Friday to 5am Monday
  • entrance from De La Vérendrye Blvd. to A-15 South is completely closed. 
  • Ramp from A-15 North to A-720 East (Ville-Marie) is completely closed. 
  • Southbound entrance from Girouard Ave. to A-15 South (Décarie) is completely closed from midnight Friday to 5am Monday 
  • Northbound between interchange and NDG Tunnel, reduced to 2 lanes.  

Highway 20

  • Eastbound between Saint-Joseph Blvd. and Saint-Pierre Ave. is completely closed
  • Ramp from A-20 East to A-15 North is completely closed from midnight Friday to 5am Monday 
  • Ramp from A-20/R-138 East to R-138 East (de Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue Boulevard) is completely closed

Highway 25

  • Ramp from A-25 North to A-40 West (exit 8-O) reduced to 1 lane. 

Highway 40

  • Eastbound at the entrance (Des Sources Blvd.) reduced to 2 lanes
  • Ramp from A-40 East to A-13 North is completely closed from midnight Friday to 7am Saturday
  • On Ville Mont-Royal Métropolitaine Expressway at the exit 65 reduced to 2 lanes
  • Westbound- on Charles-De Gaulle Bridge reduced to 1 lane on Saturday until 2pm
  • Eastbound-on Charles-De Gaulle Bridge reduced to 1 lane on Sunday until 2pm

Highway 720

  • Eastbound between the Turcot Interchange and the entrance of the Ville-Marie Tunnel is reduced to 2 lanes. 
  • Ramp from A-720 West to A-15 South is completely closed
  • Greene Avenue (between Saint-Antoine Street and Dorchester Boulevard) is completely closed. 
  • Ramp from A-720 West to A-15 North is completely closed midnight Friday to 5am Monday
  • Westbound exit 2 (Saint-Jacques Street) is completely closed 
  • Entrance to A-720 West from du Fort is completely closed
  • Eastbound Ville-Marie Tunnel to entrance from De la Cathédrale St. is reduced to 2 lanes
  • Westbound between end of Ville-Marie Tunnel and Turcot Interchange Diverted (A-720 East) reduced to 2 lanes
  • Entrance from Lucien L'Allier St. to A-720 West is completely closed

Route 138

  • Ramp from R-138 East to A-20 East reduced to 1 lane
  • Ramp from R-138 west to A-20 west is completely closed 
  • Ramp from R-139 west to R-138 west is completely closed
  • Ramp from R-138 west to Montréal-Toronto Boulevard and Richmond Street is completely closed 

Saint-Jacques St.

  • The street is completely closed in both directions between Ave. Girouard and Blvd. Décarie
  • The street is completely closed in both directions between Décarie Blvd. and De Courcelle St. - from 10 pm Friday to 5 am Monday
  • Between Saint-Rémi St. and De Courcelle St. reduced to 1 lane in each direction

Saint-Patrick Street

  • Between de l'Église Avenue and Cabot Street, reduced to 1 lane in each direction

Angrignon Blvd.

  • Between A-20 and Pullman St. Traffic, reduced to 1 lane in each direction

 De la Côte-Saint-Paul Rd

  • Eastbound between Monk Blvd. and Philippe-Lalonde St. is completely closed
  • Under structures A-15 is completely closed 

Félix-Leclerc Expressway

  • Eastbound interchange with A-13 is completely closed from midnight Friday to 7 am Saturday  

Saint-Jacques Street

  • Between Décarie Boulevard and Saint-Rémi Street reduced to 1 lane in each direction 

Saint-Rémi St.

  • Street is completely closed between Notre-Dame and Saint-Jacques Streets

Hadley Street

  • Completely closed between both directions under A-15
