For all those who were complaining that summer wasn't arriving soon enough, I say: Be careful what you wish for.
Not only is it officially Summer, but it's going to be an excruciating one!
We warned you about it earlier this year. The farmer's almanac predicted that we'd be shattering heat records in Montreal this year and it might actually be worse than they thought.
Last year was the hottest summer ever on record and this summer is going to be even hotter.
Today is already so hot that we got out first extreme heat warning of the year in effect.
Not only are the temperatures set to reach above 40, but the humidex levels are also off the charts.
You know those days where it feels like there's no oxygen in the air? Well that's pretty much what we're in for.
Plus considering the insane amount of pollen in the city, people with respiratory illnesses and allergies are not going to be having a pleasant week.
Over the weekend I went out to see just how much pollen there was and you could literally pick up clumps of it.
People's lawns and entrances looked like they were covered in fluffy snow.
Extreme heat can put everyone at risk, but the dangers are especially significant for the elderly, young children, people with chronic illnesses, people with breathing difficulties, people with heart conditions, those who work outside and those who don't have access to air conditioning.
The most important thing to remember is to drink plenty of fluids BEFORE you get thirsty. Because by the time you start feeling thirsty you're already dehydrated.
Other than that, Stay safe and stay cool.
