TL;DR The Orange line is shut down between Berri-UQAM and Henri-Bourassa. Service is expected to resume by 12:35

The STM announced in a tweet that the orange line has been shut down due to a medical emergency.

The STM's official wesbite also relates the shutdown, stating that the metro is only expected to reopen after midnight, but this is likely a typo.

In the meantime, a shuttle is running along the path of the shut down section of the orange line.

Service on the rest of the line may slow down as a result.

UPDATE: service is gradually resuming.

This is not the first major metro shutdown of the year. There have been numerous instances of metro closures, which have paralysed the sytem for several hours.

Last month, a faulty circuit breaker led to an explosion, which caused a fire underground. Due to this, the blue line was shut for most of the day.

We will update this post as more info becomes available.
