Montreal is known for its extravagant demonstrations of holiday spirit.
TL;DR Sami Hajjar's 250,000 Christmas light house has come to life for the 2018 holiday season. See photos below. Scroll to the bottom to the article for the official Facebook event.
Montreal is also host to some pretty spectaular private celebrations as well – none more anticipated, perhaps, than Sami Hajjar's annual Christmas Display, which often boasts more than 250,000 lights and dozens of other decorations.
In the yard of his castle-like home, Hajjar's display appears like a fantastical, fairytale setting. Each year, crowds gather to witness and take part in the first lighting.
Such was the case this past weekend, when Hajjar's display came to life for the first time this holiday season with an all-new Disney theme.
While past displays featured landscapes inspired by Minions and Frozen (pictured above), this year's decor evokes the more classic whimsy of Mickey Mouse and his companions.
Take a look at some spectators' photos below:
The best part of the display are the little, whimsical details.
Visit Hajjar's Facebook event page for more information. He will illuminate the display every night through January 10th, 2019.
Hajjar also uses the Christmas display to raise proceeds for charity initiatives through his Fondation Plan A. Check out the foundation and its causes on its website here.
