Montreal's Igloofest 2019 Kicked Off Last Night And Clearly The Cold Wasn't Stopping Anyone (27 Photos)

It looks like a lot of fun!

Montreal's favourite sub-zero music festival kicked off last night and despite the freezing temperatures, people still came out in hoards.

The headliner, Polo & Pan, pulled huge crowds and everyone was dressed their absolute best. Take a look at some of our pics below.

TL;DR Below are 27 photos from the first night of Montreal's Igloofest 2019!

Despite the polar vortex that continues to slam Montreal, there was no shortage of people at Igloofest's opening night.

There's something about being in the freezing temperatures that really brings the crowd together.

The welcome sign reads, "Congrats. You have chosen Igloofest instead of Netflix."

And everyone that did choose Igloofest instead of Netflix last night was definitely happy about it.

Even on the metro, you could easily spot everyone that was headed down to the Old Port for the evening of electronic music.

Because somewhere along the line, Igloofest has become synonymous with 80s-style, retro ski suits.

Truly not a bad way to come dressed because even if you're dancing, the cold is real.

And then think about how much colder it is once you've got an icy beer in hand.

Along with the music and the bar, Igloofest offers a lot of other stuff to do to keep people busy between sets — as well as to keep their little feet moving to avoid hypothermia.

The main attraction is the Iglooglisse, which had a huge line almost all night.

I didn't get to ride it until Polo & Pan had started and everyone was distracted.

You can also warm up next to one of the many fire pits they have.

Some are just for warming up, but this one is for roasting marshmallows, which they give out for free all night (or as long as they last).

While there are many shops, activities, and things to see, the main event is obviously the music, followed swiftly by the spectacle of dressing up in costumes, which everyone at Igloofest takes very seriously.

I mean when else would you get to wear your space suit?

Or your unicorn onesie?

And let me just add that unicorns are 100% THE outfit of Igloofest 2019.

I've never seen so many unicorns in my life.

These guys literally met the moment this photo was taken, bonded immediately by their shared mystical attire.

But unicorns weren't the only animal to grace Igloofest with their presence this year, oh no.

We also saw cows and foxes.

There was even a giraffe chilling with... well I don't know what she is, but she looks warm.

People also donned dinosaur outfits, an Olaf onesie, or just straight up PJs.

And for people that didn't want to dress up AS animals, the second choice seemed to be very swanky fur coats.

I've truly never seen so many people dressed in their grandmother's furs, but I have to say it's practical. Maybe the only practical time to wear fur, honestly.

And when a full outfit is too much, a mask seems to do the trick.

Or, of course, just stick to the classic 80s snowsuit and you're set.

Clearly the night was an amazing hit, if the crowds are any indication.

The staff was awesome and the music was unreal.

If you're headed to Igloofest this year, take some inspiration from above and dress warm, but be sure to do it in style.
