A bit of chaos is currently underway downtown Montreal. A water main break that happened early this morning has been gushing water since about 4:00 AM.
The water main break is on Saint-Antoine street and no one knows when exactly the water will be shut down.
TL;DR Flood Saint-Antoine since 4 a.m, no official word on when the situation will be under control.
Luckily the temperatures are supposed to remain above 0C today so this isn't nearly as disastrous as it would have been if it happened 2 days ago.
Still, the water has been flowing for so long it seems it has actually started to flood the foundation of the Tour des Canadiens 2 condo worksite.
Saint-Antoine is closed between de la Montagne and Peel as city workers attempt to quell the burst pipe.
Police are on the scene blocking traffic and workers can be seen around the gushing water.
I spoke with an officer on the scene but it seems there are no concrete details on what caused the break or how it will be fixed.
Meanwhile, the water continues to flow and this is the third water main break we've reported on since January.
Clearly, Montreal is having a bit of an underground issue, if these breaks keep happening. Hopefully, more details soon come to light in terms of the origin of this break.
