BIXI, a popular-bike-sharing service in Montreal, has renewed its contract with the city of Montreal for a tenth year. The service is expanding its reach by adding too its fleet 1,000 new bikes, some of which are electric. BIXI is also currently considering expanding its services to offer bikes year-round.
At the regular price, a monthly BIXI bike subscription currently costs $34. However, OPUS card holders who buy the monthly pass get a monthly BIXI pass for just $17.

BIXI partners with the STM to offer customers discounts on the different transit methods. Many metro stations now have BIXI docks, so this deal is great for commuters who want to bike to the metro or exercise on weekends.
Right now, OPUS-card holders can take advantage of many deals on BIXI memberships. The STM advises that you "load a monthly STM fare onto your OPUS card, and pay your 30-day membership for only $17 instead of the regular price of $ 34."
You can also save if you buy a yearly subscription to BIXI. If you sign up for BIXI and OPUS à l’année or OPUS & Cie, you can save $59.
Essentially, you get a $20 discount on your one-year BIXI membership and a $39 discount on your STM subscription, totalling $59 in savings.
The yearly BIXI subscription normally costs $94.
If you want to dip your toes without commiting to a subscription, you will still get a discount: holders of an OPUS card without photo pay $2.50 for a one-way BIXI ride — a 15% discount off the regular price.
BIXI rides for holders of a photo OPUS card pay $2.00 for a one-way ride instead of the regular $2.95.
