Metro riders looking forward to having their daily commute made a little more modern with the new Azur metro cars will need to wait a little bit longer. Another four months has been added to the Azur timeline, with the issue being the software needed to guide the new trains, reports La Presse.
At this point, the Azur metro cars are already 8 months late, but this newest delay is at the fault of the Pittsburgh-based software company that was commissioned to create the automatic train control system for the new cars, and not the STM.
Crucial to the functioning of the cars on the metro network, we're willing to wait a little bit longer to ensure the safety of all passengers. On this timeline, expect the first batch of Azur cars to hit the STM network sometime in mid-2015.
Bombardier-Alstom, the company commissioned to manufacture the entire Azur line of metro cars, still promises that the rest of the line will still be on the tracks by fall 2018.
