Montreal's Huge $1 Croissant Festival
Get ready for the butter-fingers!
Do you love croissants? I won't even wait for you to answer because I know that you do.
This buttery, flaky, heavenly, viennoiserie pastry is a great snack, breakfast, lunch, supper, you name it. There is never a time of day when you won't want to be eating croissants.
Right here in Quebec, we have a day entirely dedicated to this crescent-shaped gift from above.
La Fête du Croissant is basically a day dedicated to the art of croissant-making, something I really wish had been offered in high school. Artisans from all over Quebec put their best foot forward to try and outdo themselves and their peers to give us the best possible croissants ever.
More than 100 of the best bakeries and pastry shops from all over the province participate in this foodie competition.
This year the festival will be on April 28, 2018, and all the participants will be offering their best croissants for only $1.25!
Check out their website for everything you need to know about the festival and croissants in general.
But they're not offering any old croissants. These treats have some pretty strict requirements, so you know that you're getting the best of the best here. All croissants in participation must be:
Made by an experienced professional
Made by using both techniques of raising (with yeast) and folding (for flakiness) the dough
Contains pure butter only
Rolled by hand
Made fresh every morning, raised and baked on site
Check out their website for everything you need to know about the festival and croissants in general. They even show you how to make your own croissants!
