This morning the STM yellow line shut down access to Parc Jean Drapeau due to an alleged gas leak.
There is not a great deal of information about the nature of the gas leak or where it's coming from. However, it was deemed dangerous enough to completely block traffic off from not just the Metro station but ALL of Ile Saint-Helene. As you can see from the STM Tweet below.
No trains stopping at Jean-Drapeau métro station due to a gaz leak near the station. Service still provided at Berri-UQAM and Longueuil–Université-de-Sherbrooke station. #stminfo— STM Ligne Jaune (@stm_Jaune) August 10, 2018
Thankfully, the station has resumed it's regular service as of around 9:30 am this morning. However, the gas leak is still causing issues with access to Ile Saint-Helene, and parts of the Jacques Cartier Bridge are totally blocked off to prevent drivers from exiting onto Ile Saint-Helene and Parc Jean Drapeau.
Hopefully, this will be resolved soon as Ile Saint Helene is home to tons of weekend activities and recreation in the summer and it would be a shame if all of those events being held there had to be canceled due to a mysterious gas leak.
More information to come.
