Many of you were probably a bit underwhelmed a few weeks ago when the STM installed a fully functioning cellphone network between only Guy-Concordia and McGill stations. Well prepared to be whelmed (but not overwhelmed), as more green line stations have now been outfitted with cellphone service, reports CBC.
As of now, 3G, 4G and LTE cellphone networks are available to anyone riding from Guy-Concordia all the way to St. Laurent station. An official announcement from the STM isn't expected 'til the end of October, but the cell networks are already working and will let you live tweet while riding the metro.
Next in line in the STM's cellphone network plan of attack is Atwater, Berri-UQAM and Beaudry stations, says CBC, with the orange line (Bonaventure to Mont-Royal) getting cell service too. You'll have to wait 'til 2015 for all that though.
So anyone on the green line, note that you can only post your Insta-pics and Facebook status updates between St. Laurent and Guy-Concordia station, because sometimes the world really does need to know that you got Starbucks today.
