Old Montreal Is Transforming Into A FREE 18th-Century Market

Travel back to the past.

There's so much history embedded in Montreal, even just walking around the city, you can see it for yourself- historic buildings, and statues. It is especially apparent when you're walking through Old Montreal- where you feel taken back in time, with cobblestone roads and remarkable buildings.

So why not be transported to the past, celebrate Montreal's history and feel like you're a part of it?

Well you most certainly can be transported back in time!

With the help of this 18th century themed public market that occurs every year and is hosted by the Pointe-à-Callière Museum in Old Montreal. This year is special because it marks the event's 25th anniversary and it's FREE! 

What a great event to bring your family, friends or even peruse by yourself and be transported back to New France this weekend- August 25th, from 10am-8pm and 26th, from 10am-6pm.

There's so many historical activities that you can enjoy at this historical market, including entertainers, merchants (cheese, jams, ciders), historical costumes, and street performers. 

There will be certain events you won't want to miss:

Saturday August 25th: 

  • 10:30am- Food at the time of New France
  • 1pm- Society of French-Canadian genealogy

Sunday August 26th: 

  • 10:30am- Dress according to his rank: the clothes of our ancestors in New France
  •  1pm- Society of French-Canadian genealogy
