Ever since Prince Harry and American actress Meghan Markle tied in the knot in May, they have made international headlines for their adorable antics, subtly modernizing agenda, and friendly demeanours.
Some have even suggested that the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex become the next king and queen of Canada.
With ties to the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, Meghan especially has come to occupy a place in the popular imagination as a representative of the bond between North America and the island country.
She still maintains connections to Canada. Her show Suits filmed in Toronto and many of her friends remain on this side of the Atlantic. One Canadian woman even serves as her "secret" long-distance stylist.
So when news broke that the royal couple is considering a North American tour in early 2019, royal enthusiasts speculated whether they might pay a visit to Meghan's former Canadian home.
Well now Us Weekly and Huffpost Canada have confirmed that the couple is seriously thinking about a Canadian stop on their tour from coast to coast.
Nothing is certain yet, but chances are high that the couple would include Canada on any visit to North America. Toronto is also reportedly the site of the couple's first meeting.
The royal family of the United Kingdom is, after all, also Canadian royalty. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex themselves are not Canadian, but their proximity to the Queen make them the focus of Canadian cultural and political intrigue.
One thing is certain: the couple will eventually come to Canada. But it could be sooner than we think.
