Last year, spring came early. Obviously it was because the groundhog didn't see his shadow, which would have been difficult considering he was dead.

But let's face it, that only counts as evidence if you believe marmots have the power to control the forces of nature.

So this year, we decided not to wait for a rodent to tell us what the forecast will be and instead we'll consult some actual meteorologists.

So far the news looks pretty good, and I think it's safe to say that Montreal will see an early Spring this year.

I spend hours looking through every long term forecast I could find and the one thing they all have in common is that they all claims that the worst part of winter is either over or that it will be over within the next two weeks. .

According to the Weather Channel's forecast for the eastern parts of North America, all the coldest temperatures of the season happened in December and during the first half of January. So the worst is behind us.

The Weather Network was a little more pessimistic, it forecasts that the last shitty part of winter is scheduled for this week and the first week of February. So we only have about 2 weeks left before things start warming up. Still a pretty good outlook.

And now for the Accuweather forecast. They claim most of Canada will be much warmer than normal especially in February.

Finally, we looked at the weather forecast for the town with the most famous Groundhog of all, Punxsutawney Phil. If the sky is cloudy, then he will not see his shadow, and so far the weather forecast for the town of Punxsutawney is "Mostly Cloudy".

But just in case that's still not enough to convince you, consider this:

The end of Meteorological winter in February 28th, which means spring is less than 40 days away!
