Talking, texting, and snapping photos along the STM metro network is a privilege only afforded to folks riding through/into certain stations. Fortunately, the number of metro stations connected to a mobile network is ever-growing, with more recently added.
Announced by the STM yesterday, Lionel-Groulx and Bonaventure stations now provide riders with access to 3G, 4G and 4G LTE mobile technologies on any device.
This brings the total number of metro stations equipped with cellular service to 17, or 25% of the entire STM network. With the two added stations, riders can now enjoy cellular service from Lionel-Groulx to Beaudry on the Green Line and from Mont-Royal to Bonaventure on the Orange Line.
Looking ahead, the STM plans on connecting more stations along the Orange Line, specifically from Bonaventure to Côte-Vertu. No timeline was given as to when the ten stations will be connected to a mobile network.
