If you've been around the Internets today, you've likely seen that Pokemon revealed several new upcoming projects at their Pokemon Press Conference.
Perhaps the most confusing (or most exciting, depending on how you look at it) is the next step in the Pokemon GO world, Pokemon Sleep.
Yes, you read that correctly. Pokemon is going to be releasing a new app that tracks your sleep patterns. Understandably, the reactions on Twitter have been absolutely hilarious and I've compiled the most hilarious ones below. Enjoy.
The tweet above was sent out by the official Pokemon Twitter account announcing the Pokemon Sleep app, as well as noting that it will be available next year. There aren't many details yet about how the game will actually function, other than they you're meant to put it beside your pillow as you sleep.
People at first were very confused, because what on earth does Pokemon get out of tracking peoples' sleep patterns? Like, is this real life!? The confusion quickly turned to memes, though... of course.
The tangents people went on nearly had me in tears - and some of my coworkers here at MTL Blog agreed that we wouldn't be totally resistant to an aggressive self-care app... so, maybe Pokemon is on to something.
I mean, they certainly did a fair share in terms of getting people off their asses and out walking around when they introduced Pokemon GO. So if Pokemon Sleep is really intended to entice people to get to bed early and sleep a nice, healthy eight hours, I'm all behind it.
Trust a Japanese company to use their powers for good and attempt to inject more balance and zen in people's lives - particularly the lives of those who they have impacted the most.
I mean, we all have that friend who would show up to school after a night of gaming with heavy dark circles under their eyes night after night because they just couldn't log off.
So a game that incentivizes users to log off and catch some real shut-eye? Why the hell not.
Pokemon has announced the release of a new app called Pokemon Sleep, in their vein of Pokemon GO, and the Internet reacted as expected: with memes and hilarity.
