Every one of Montreal's neighborhoods have a distinct energy, a unique feeling specific to the area that is created by the people, architecture, and overall environment of the borough. Montreal's Plateau-Montreal, with its hip, young, and fun vibes, make it an extra special district.

Sure, Mile End is great, but there's something distinctly awesome about the Plateau. Colourful and vibrant, the area is filled with a refreshing energy you can't find elsewhere, and with the amount of bars, clubs, and artistic events, the Plateau is never boring. Especially in summer.

French photographer Nicolas Mithois captured the essence of the borough in his aptly named photo series "Plateau Mont-Royal." Take a look at the photo series below, and get excited for the magic that is summer time in the Plateau.

Boucherie Slovenia, a boulevard Saint-Laurent institution for 50 years, will soon serve its last spicy sausage.

A 17-Year-Old Was Shot & Killed In Montreal's Plateau

It was the city's first homicide of 2022.

A 17-year-old young man has died following gunfire in the Plateau-Mont-Royal Thursday evening, Montreal police confirmed Friday morning. It was the city's first homicide of 2022.

SPVM spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant told MTL Blog that authorities received a 911 call about gunshots heard on rue Roy near rue Rivard at around 7:00 p.m. Officers found the teenager with a gunshot wound to the upper body when they arrived.

2021 Was Montreal's Hottest Year On Record

Here's what's in store for the first few months of 2022.

It's official — 2021 was the hottest year on record for Montreal, according to Environment Canada. It beat out the previous hottest years, 1998 and 2012, by a mean few hundredths of a degree.

This rise in temperature in Montreal is attributed to new weather patterns, causing scorching temperatures in June, August, September and October. "August and October were record-breaking months," said Environment Canada spokesperson Simon Legault.
