Online Petition To Close Down OQLF Circulating In Montreal

And there are already 11,000 people who have signed.

We live in a bilingual city. Or at least, that's what most of us would like to believe. Only problem is, there is a government organization that's sole mission is to limit just how bilingual we're allowed to be. L’Office québécois de la langue française was established on March 24, 1961, and while its initial mission was to "align on international French, promote good Canadianisms and fight Anglicisms [...]" amongst other objectives, its actions carried out over the last few years have bordered on the absurd.

Well it seems that one Montrealer has finally had enough and has started a petitionto close down the L’Office québécois de la langue française once and for all.

At the time of writing this, there are currently 10,855 signatures, and 15,000 signatures is set as the next goal. The petition states that it is to be delivered directly to the Premier Ministre du Quebec, M. Philippe Couillard.

We are all for "preserving and promoting" the French language, because we know that it is a big part of what makes our little corner of the world so culturally rich, but when it comes at the cost of our individual freedoms and our overall economic prosperity, it might indeed be time to rethink the need for this organization.
