Being a single girl in Montreal is awesome, but it definitely has its downfalls. I spoke to so many other single gals like myself in our city and we all seem to go through the same lame scenarios. It's crazy how we're so different, yet so alike. If you're a single Montreal girl reading this, I hope you feel better once you're done because you're not alone going through this bulshit. We're all in this together, girl. Montreal hook-up culture needs to seriously chill because it's getting really annoying for girls who still have some values.
1. Guys ask you for nudes
Number one red flag that helps you spot a Montreal fuckboy is - he asks you for nudes. Especially if you only had one date, you haven't kissed yet or sometimes, you haven't even met in person. No thanks.
2. Winter is coming
Winter is coming and all you can think about is, "I'm going to be alone for Christmas, FML." You're actually considering getting yourself a cuddle buddy... but we all know "cuddle buddy" is just a cute way of saying "friends with benefits". Ugh...
3. Guys ask you to come over for "Netflix and Chill"
You meet a cute guy at a bar or something, you exchange numbers... You're texting back and forth with this cutie, getting really excited with life and then, boom! He invites you over "to watch a movie" or straight up "Netflix and chill"... Can we have a normal date instead? WTF!
4. Guys want to sleep with you on the first date
When a guy takes you out to a restaurant, he immediately assumes that there is a good chance of taking you home that same night. Why is this assumption so common? Taking a girl out to dinner does not mean you have full access to her body afterwards. We're just there for food. Just kidding. Not kidding actually.
5. Most your friends are in relationships
It's annoying to be that one single friend who's getting drunk by herself at all the house parties. Your friends are getting married, moving in together, thinking about having kids... and you're just like, "Um, I'll have a double vodka-soda, thanks."
6. Parents are putting pressure on you
Every time I tell my parents I'm going out on a date, they get overly excited. They don't realize that we live in a time where going on a date with a guy doesn't mean anything at all. It's just like a gateway to getting drunk and having a one-night stand, not building a life together. Worst thing is when parents ask you, "So, how did your date go? When are we meeting him?" and you think to yourself, "Never."
7. Going on dates is exhausting
Every single girl can relate to the following struggle: staying home and feeling miserable or going out on a date and feeling miserable afterwards. Dating around is NOT fun. Most dudes we meet are fucking weird. We're stuck in a circle of misery, basically.
8. Friends set you up with the worst dudes
When your friend tells you something like, "There's someone I want you to meet" - you run. These set ups never work out. He ends up being their awkward co-worker who's been single for ten years and still lives with his parents. Do NOT trust your friends.
9. Dating apps suck
Guys you meet on dating apps are mostly there for one thing - they want to get inside your pants. I mean, it's cool if you don't mind guys getting inside your pants... but if you have female genitalia, you don't need dating apps to get laid. You can literally walk up to any guy and there is a 99% chance he WILL want to sleep with you.
10. You meet a nice and guy and...
Every time you meet a normal guy, you find out something horrible about him. There is always something wrong with nice guys. For example, he lives in Laval... or he's married... or he has a gherkin...
