The SQDC has recently added CBD tea to its stock and naturally, I needed to see what it was all about. I can now freely admit my love for THC products since it's legal in Canada. In other searches for relaxation in the midst of living a busy city life, I also drink a lot of tea. More often than not, you can find me sipping on tea while smoking a joint before bed, so combining those two things seemed like a perfect fit for me.

Before I get into the nitty-gritty details, I will tell you that it costs $16.80 for 3 tea bags. Each bag contains 10 milligrams of CBD as well as small amounts (0.03 milligram) of THC.

The tea comes in three flavours: lavender chamomile, rooibos vanilla, and peach ginger. I opted for the peach ginger — and I am ever so glad that I did.

For those of you reading this who don't know what CBD is, let me give you the lowdown real quick. CBD is one of the many active compounds found in marijuana. CBD has zero psychoactive effects, unlike its cousin THC. CBD is said to help treat and relieve pain while reducing inflammation. Some also claim that it helps control anxiety and sleep deprivation.

I am a THC user and had never really tried a solely CBD-based product. My back is constantly in pain, so I was both hopeful and excited to see if this tea would magically help with the discomfort.

As I added one of the bags to boiling water, a light yet the powerful scent of peach filled my kitchen. The package indicates that you should brew the tea for three to four minutes. I let it soak for four minutes.

The overpowering smells got the best of me and I just could not wait any longer to taste it — four minutes seemed like forever.

Finally, it was time to try it!

Peach and ginger are definitely a match made in heaven. But, although the drink tasted great, I did find it could have used a little more ginger. It was a lot sweeter than I thought it would be, but still incredibly tasty.

Some of the other ingredients in the drink are decaffeinated green tea, sweet blackberry leaves, acacia gum, sugar, modified coconut oil, and sunflower lecithin.

15 minutes into drinking my warm cup of tea, my body slowly began to relax. My muscles instantly began to chill out and I suddenly had the urge to move from my kitchen to my couch. I was just so comfortable.

30 minutes after drinking the CBD-infused beverage, I felt content and incredibly calm — and yet I was not high at all. And, best of all, my back was not hurting.

55 minutes of relaxation after drinking that tasty tea and I was ready for bed.

After trying the product, I truly believe that it can have positive results for those who are willing to try it. All in all, I felt a lot calmer without the sensation of being high, which was nice.

And, for the first time in a long time, my back wasn't a source of agony. My pain had significantly decreased, which genuinely surprised me.

I know I'm not the only person who has been enjoying the CBD-infused drink, as it is currently out of stock on the SQDC website.

This may have been my first CBD experience, but I can assure you it will not be my last.

Now that I am hooked, I think I will try the lavender chamomile next time. Which flavour will you go for?
