The downtown Montreal location of the SQDC on rue Sainte-Catherine is without a doubt the busiest SQDC in the province. It's also one of the few locations that is actually open 5 days a week, instead of the four days most other locations are open across the province.

And for the first couple months of it's opening, the downtown Montreal location really suffered to keep up with the incredibly high demand. Every single time I've walked by, there has been a line, and at times that line snakes quite a distance down the street.

So when I went by yesterday, I was expecting more of the same. When I arrived, there was a line, and as I took my place at the back, I was ready to wait the average 20 minutes or so outside on the street... but before I could even get comfortable, the line was moving, and I was inside...

And the entire rest of the experience made it clear: the SQDC on Ste-Cath has finally got its shit together. It's more than just a new sign.

TL;DR The Sainte-Catherine location of the SQDC is downtown Montreal has been notriously clocked for their long lines and extensive wait times, amongst other issues. But a light has appeared at the end of the tunnel, if my experience yesterday was any indication. Let's start with them dealing with the over-packaging, for example.

It all started with the nearly non-existant wait. Even after I made it into the store, I barely had to wait before I was speaking with a "budtender," as I like to call them.

Part of why the wait was so short was because they've really streamlined their in-store experience. Finally. 

Where it used to just be a confused mass of stoners wondering who to talk to, now some order has been introduced. A helping hand, so to speak, to the still-confused mass of stoners.

First of all, they now have a two-line system that I fully support. You start by getting in line to speak with your budtender about your weed of choice. Sativa? Indica? CBD or THC? They'll help you choose your product, or otherwise grab your fave, quick and easy. 

They then take your product and leave it with a corresponding letter, which you take with you to the payment line. Now the next little pothead and get to speaking to their budtender, while you wait your turn to pay.

When you get to the cash, you just tell the cashier your letter and they ring through your products. Then you just pay for your pot and you're on your way! So quick. So efficient.

The next best thing, in my opinion, is the fact that they finally decided to do something about the ridiculous over-packaging. 

I mean, unfortunately, they've not actually STOPPED over-packaging... but the Sainte-Catherine location now has a recycling bag right by the exit, just waiting for you to toss your pot box as you leave.

Brilliant.

These are the kinds of highdeas I've been hoping they'd impliment since day one. Ah, well. Better late than never, right?

For now I'm content to appreciate the serious improvements we've been given thus far. Grateful for the legal green and everything they're doing to make the legal purchasing experience better for all of us who are happy to support our new national dealer.

Also... hello new sign! Clearly, they have entered phase two and we are here for it.
