Sometimes we might think that we're ready for a serious relationship, when in reality we really aren't. "Bad timing" is totally a thing.
Being in a committed relationship is more than just having a good time together. It's building a solid future and working through life like a team. Are you truly prepared to be someone's "partner in crime"? No? Here are ten signs that prove you're not fully ready for a serious relationship... at least not yet.
1. You still have feelings for your ex
Does seeing your ex with someone else make you jealous or angry? Do you keep in touch with him/her? If you answered "yes" to both questions, then I have bad news for you - you're not ready to let someone new into your life. You have to let go of the past before committing to anyone else.
2. You're not happy with your life
It's crucial to feel happy and balanced on your own. If you're not happy with yourself, your job, your health or anything else in your life when you're single - work on it first. Don't ever start a relationship when you're not at your 100%.
3. You don't know what you want
If you can't figure out whether you want to have a serious relationship with someone or not - then you definitely DON'T want one. You'll know when you're ready.
4. You have trust issues
Not being able to fully trust someone you let into your life is a problem. Your motto should be, "Trust someone until they give you a reason not to." Remember this.
5. You're not being yourself around your date
Trying to become someone else in order to be "liked" or "accepted" is a big no-no. It's unfair to both of you. Sooner or later your true colors will have to come out and it won't be pretty.
6. You just had your heart broken
In other words, you're emotionally unavailable. Give your heart some time to heal before jumping into a new relationship.
7. You're a serial dater
If your week is overbooked with different dates, then you're NOT ready for a relationship and are definitely NOT looking for "the one." The real magic happens when you give up and actually focus on other aspects of life.
8. You want someone to "save" you
A healthy relationship is about giving, not receiving. If you need someone to "save" you from your misery, then it's time to reassess your whole approach to dating. Fix yourself first, figure out your life and then, when you have something to give, that's when you're ready for something serious.
9. You don't like compromise
"My way or the highway" has no place within a serious relationship. If you can never admit that you're wrong and/or meet someone halfway, then you might want to wait a little longer before letting someone into your life.
10. You have a fear of commitment
If the thought of being with one person for the rest of your life makes you uncomfortable, then you're definitely not ready for something serious. Enjoy your single life in the meantime. You'll know when you're ready.
