Over 260,000 Hydro Québec Customers Are Still Without Power This Morning
Last night hundreds of thousands of Hydro Québec customers were left without any electricity due to the conditions, such as freezing rain across the province.
In total, nearly 260,000 businesses and homes still do not have their power restored, at the time of writing this article. According to CBC, the fact that crews must first remove trees and fallen branches from certain locations to even reach network areas has made the entire process take even longer.
Most of the outages right now are in Laval, the Laurentians and the Lanaudiére regions as well as in parts of Montreal, Montérégie, Mauricie and the Outaouais regions.
Around 9 p.m. on Monday night, over 310,000 customers in the province were experiencing a loss of power.

With a few regions dealing with the most intense power loss this morning, quite a few school boards have chosen to shut down until further notice.
These school boards include Sir Wilfrid Laurier, Commission Scolaire Affluents, Commission Scolaire de Laval (CSDL), Commission Scolaire de la Seigneurie-des-Mille-Iles as well as a number of private schools in the same areas.
The power outages first began on Monday after freezing rain, followed by snowy conditions, hit parts of southern Quebec.

As of now, Hydro Québec says they are unable to give a specific time of when each region will have power restored. They say that it could take some time for the affected areas to recover.
Many Quebecers across the province are spending their day collecting fallen branches and trees on their property.
According to theEnvironment Canada website, certain areas of the province should expect up to 10cm of heavy snow this evening.
This could bring additional complications to having electricity restored, especially since the added weight of the snow on frozen tree limbs could lead to more breakage and collapse of trees on or near networks.
