People Are Freaking Out On Twitter After Realising Keanu Reeves Is A Proud Canadian

The Internet is buzzing with love, admiration and appreciation for the one and only Keanu Reeves, who has clearly made 2019 his year. After the release of John Wick 3 and Always Be My Maybe, in addition to the announcements of his participation in Toy Story 4 and the upcoming videogame Cyberpunk 2077, people can't stop talking about Keanu, the Internet's newest boyfriend.

While there will be no question about where he's from after his debut as Duke Caboom, Canada's greatest stuntman, some people didn't realize that he was Canadian before this voice acting role highlighted his heritage.

In fact, a lot of people on Twitter are completely baffled that 1) Keanu identifies as Canadian and 2) that they had no idea until now!

Yes many were shocked to find out that this sweet, humble man came from the land of politeness and poutine. But you know what? I always knew. And I've been following Keanu's moves... and he's done some stuff, especially recently, that officially has him in the running for being The Most Canadian Man On The Planet. Take a look.

Playing Duke Caboom, Canada's greatest stuntman

There's no question that this role solidifies his place on the Canadian walk of fame... and I can't think of a Canadian better suited for the role. Polite and proud. A winning combo.

Being babysat by Alice Cooper in Yorkville, Toronto

While chatting with Jimmy Fallon a couple years ago, he let it slip that he used to hang around Toronto's old Nimbus 9 Studios, up in Toronto's Yorkville neighbourhood.

Being a class act on the subway

This guy doesn't need to be asked to move seats to allow someone else a place. He just does it, out of the goodness of his heart. Because he's Keanu and he's Canadian.

Almost changing his name to Chuck Spadina

In another chat with Fallon, Keanu told the story of his first trip out to L.A. and how it almost resulted in him having a new, acting name. He was clearly going with the [your first pet's name] + [your childhood street name] formula, because Chuck Spadina is the most hilarious name I've ever heard.

Being a lovable dork on CBC's vintage classic, "Going Great"

While Ryan Gosling has the Mickey Mouse Club, Keanu proves his superior Canadianness by having gotten his start on the CBC, the most Canada's own Broadcasting Company.

Being beautifully diverse

Sure we want to claim him as our very own, but like most Canadians, Keanu actually has a very complex and diverse ancestry. Not only was he born in Beirut, Lebanon to his British mother, his father is also of Chinese-Hawaiian and Portugese descent. How's that for multi-cultural! We stan.

Being humble AF and actually using the work "wacky"

Sometimes the epitome of being Canadian coincides with being a bashful dork, as seen in this clip of Keanu being told he is the Internet's boyfriend. "That's wacky." Ya, so are you Keanu. That's why we love you.

Being the king of "hover hands" and therefore the most respectful man on earth

People have started noticing recently that Keanu has some very polite hands, particularly when taking photos with female fans. Whether this stems from respect for these women (I imagine it does) or fear of lawsuits (I imagine it factors in), it is still supremely polite and therefore terribly Canadian. Another win.

Is there anything this man can't do?
