Canadian Muslims have launched a first ever "Meet a Muslim Family" Campaign to connect Canadians with fellow Muslim families. Ahmadi Muslims, from Newfoundland to British Columbia, will welcome fellow Canadians into their homes. The aim of the campaign is to connect Canadians to Muslim families and introduce them to their traditions, cultures, cuisine and hospitality.

In recognition of this Canada wide campaign here are a list of Montreal’s best halal restaurants…
1. Quartier Perse
4241 Boul Decarie, Montreal, Quebec H4A 3K4
Type of food: Iranian Cuisine
Essential Eat – The Fesenjan chicken stew. To be honest, it’s not one of the best looking dishes. The sight alone could make you run in the other direction - but take my word for it the taste will have you humming a different tune. It is a rich, tangy Iranian dish drenched in pomegranate molasses and cooked with a copious amount of ground walnuts, which results in a gravy that is sweet, tart and thick with flavor. The soup alone is worth the visit to the restaurant.
Alcohol Served: BYOB
2. Zyara
9140 Boulevard Leduc #205, Brossard, QC J4Y 0L2
Type of food: Lebanese Cuisine
Essential Eat – The freshly in-restaurant baked bread with a side of the tabouleh. It is so tasty you will feel as though you are sitting on a terrace in central Lebanon – especially considering the modern Ali Baba décor. You can also treat yourself to a traditional Nargile (Shisha) on the terrace while being entertained by the in house belly dancer. Come for the food and stay for the atmosphere.
Alcohol Served: YES
3. Falafel Express
521 Rue Sainte-Catherine Ouest, Montréal, QC H3B 3H3
Type of food: Lebanese Restaurant/Take Out
Essential Eat – The Falafel. The portions they offer are generous and so worth the price of 3.60$ for the sandwich or 7.80$ with a side of fries that are crispy and slightly spicy and a drink. The falafel is served in a delightful pouch that is so easy to eat on the go. It's a no-frills Middle Eastern restaurant that is affordable, filling, fast, and tasty.
Alcohol Served: NO

4. Abu Elias
733 Boulevard de la Côte-Vertu, Montréal, QC H4L 1Y3
Type of food: Lebanese Butcher Shop
Essential Eats – The Shish Taouk sandwich. At this butcher shop they let the tender, juicy meat and the charcoal heat do the talking – there’s no need for a marinade or rub at this joint. It’s a combination butcher's shop, grocery store, and grill that serve up some truly exceptional grilled meat. Abu Elias is as informal as it gets, but these guys are topmost in the grilled meats department.
Alcohol Served: NO
5. Marrouche
352 Cure-Labelle Boulevard, Laval QC H7V 2S1
Type of food: Mediterranean Breakfast Restaurant
Essential Eat - The Man'oushe is fresh out of the oven. The Labneh is creamy and rich. The Hummus with Foul is exquisite. The Za'atar with Pita Bread is divine. Pardon me while I swoon. Don’t expect much atmosphere or anything in the ways of décor in this picnic style joint but the food will not disappoint. I recommend heading there with a group of about four to six and just ordering everything on the menu to share, complete with a cup of their specialty tea to wash it all down afterwards.
Alcohol Served: NO
