A woman in Quebec has been formally charged with fraud and identity theft after posing as a nurse for over 20 years, according to the CBC. Nathalie Bélanger was caught last spring while working at Jonquière Hospital in Saguenay, after using the license number of another nurse with the same name, who worked in a nearby Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean health facility. The fake nurse apparently has had nine charges laid against her, according to the Journal de Quebec.
Those charges include "fraud over $5,000 to the detriment of the Jonquière hospital and the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean CIUSSS," usurping the identity of another person, as well as forgery, for fabricating false documents, and fraud for using them.
I can't help but think of Catch Me If You Can when considering the list of documents Bélanger falsified... her CV, a certificate of registration for the Order of Nurses, proof of membership fee payments and even a college diploma in nursing.
But the most frightening thing, for sure, is the fact that Bélanger worked for 20 years without having any training whatsoever.
According to the CBC, Bélanger's jig was up when the regional health authority, the Centre intégré universitaire de santé et de services sociaux (CIUSSS) in Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean noticed a discrepancy with her date of birth.

Apparently, the date of birth that Bélanger gave upon registering for a training program didn't match the one on their records.

Upon noticing this discrepancy in the date of birth that Bélanger gave and the one on record, which evidently belonged to another nurse named Nathalie Bélanger, CIUSSS launched an investigation.

The investigation then turned up all the falsified documents mentioned above, along with proof that the faux-nurse had been stealing the identity of a properly-accredited nurse with the same name.
If hospitals creeped you out before, I'm sorry if this news makes you never want to trust a health professional again.
The reality is that this is an extremely rare situation, according to the OIIQ.

Translation: What do we do with Nathalie Bélanger who has been an illegal nurse for 20 years, she even trained new nurses?* If she's been so competent all this time, keep her, God
Though with the shortage of healthcare professionals in Quebec, particularly nurses... maybe you're with choupete, above on this one...
