Quebec Revealed The Next Steps For Reopening & 'Restaurants Phase 1' Is On The List

During today's press conference, Premier François Legault told Quebecers that there are now 47,984 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the province. Along with this announcement,  Legault revealed a list of what's coming next in regards to Quebec's deconfinement plan. Included on this list is the much anticipated first phase of restaurant reopenings.

The list is split up in different sections, which shows that we are currently undergoing reopenings of both the fourth and fifth phases.

Such includes retail stores with their own exterior entrances reopening in Greater Montreal as of today, May 25 and the upcoming reopening of libraries and museums in the province on May 29.

The list of what's to begin reopening next in Quebec, referred to as Phase 6, includes day camps, outdoor pools, the "first phase" of restaurants, and the "second phase" of retail stores, which will include shopping malls outside of the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal (CMM), among other things.

No official date has been announced for the beginnings of this phase, though.

And, for Phase 6 to be brought to light, Legault says we must stay "disciplined." The plans will also continue to be monitored based on the progression of the pandemic.

Below, you can see the list of phases for Quebec's deconfinement plan.

Legault made sure to note that everything announced in this list "is conditional on the evolution of the pandemic in Quebec... and on us all remaining disciplined."

Here's what's in the workings for Phase 6 of Quebec's deconfinement plan:

- Day camps

- Outdoor swimming pools

- Restaurants phase 1

- Shopping centres phase 2 CMM

- Broadcasting and post-production

- Outdoor team sports

- Training Centres of excellence

A full explanation of how the province is going about this plan is available here.

As for updates about the current situation in the province, of Quebec's 47,984 cases announced on May 25, 14,654 people are reported to have recovered.

And, since the beginning of the pandemic, 347,398 individuals in Quebec have tested negative for COVID-19.
