What started out as an American-only sale has been picked up by retailers across Canada. Black Friday has officially gained more shoppers than Boxing Day. A recent survey by the Retail Council of Canada found that 43% of Canadians will take advantage of Black Friday versus only 34% who plan to shop on Boxing Day.
It only makes sense, as Black Friday falls the day after the U.S. November Thanksgiving, it's easier to do all your Christmas shopping. Most of us are broke by Boxing Day anyway.
The study also found that a mere 28% of holiday money was spent online. Those are brave souls who enter a brick and mortar store on November 29.
