Quebec's Official Forecast For November & December 2018 Has Been Revealed And It's Extremely Upsetting

Let's be real, the end of the year is hardly ever pleasant in Quebec.

Autumn is at its peak for about two weeks in the province and then everything turns grey. After Halloween enthusiasm passes, residents of la belle province are left with nothing but soggy piles of decaying leaves and capricious weather patterns.

TL;DR November and December will be heavy in precipitation in Quebec. Alternating periods of rain and snow in November, and a quick succession of snowy periods in December mean the province will be particularly wet at the end of 2018. Snow will also accumulate more quickly than average in December.

Sure, the approach of the holiday season gives us reason to persevere, but it never unfolds exactly as we imagine it. The days are damp and dark. Frost, rain, and heavy snow create hazardous road conditions. And, somehow, even after countless millennia of living through this period of seasonal transition, humans have still yet to develop appropriate, versatile attire to weather it.

Unfortunately, this year, it seems Quebec is in for particularly variable meteorology.

According to the Farmer's Almanac, the most reliable source of long-term forecasts, the next two months are going to be wet. Very wet.

In fact, it seems that precipitation will be incessant in the province at the end of 2018.

In November, precipitation will alternate between rain and snow almost weekly.

Such back-and-forth will likely produce slush when temperatures are above freezing and ice when temperatures drop.

Whatever wintry beauty the snow brings will be thwarted by the ensuing rain.

December is even more precipitation-heavy. Right now, it appears it will snow every single week.

While that snow will serve as a lovely backdrop for holiday photo shoots, it will also bring peak winter conditions to the province much earlier than desired.

Residents of Quebec will be shovelling out their cars and navigating treacherous sidewalks before too long.

Montreal will, as usual, be unprepared for such large quantities of snow.

Last year, the city removed so much snow that its deposits in quarries outside the city centre never melted.

Winter is well on its way. You've been warned.
