Quebec's Unlikely Connection To Hollywood Actors Leonardo DiCaprio & James Franco

And it was there staring at you right in the face this whole time.

Have you ever wondered what it's like to play in a movie along side famous Hollywood actors like Leonardo DiCaprio, James Franco and Jennifer Lawrence?

Well one man from Montreal is lucky enough to be able to do that kind of thing for a living.

Meet Thomas Luccioni, one of Montreal's most famous stuntmen.

Thomas's IMDB page is quite impressive, and after seeing the list of movies he appeared in, we simply had to contact him to find out more.

1. First off, where are you from?

I was born in Montreal, my parents moved to the South Shore when I was 5. I spent the rest of my childhood and teenage life living in St-Lambert. I established myself in St-Hubert for 3 years, then I lived on and off in Toronto and deep in the woods in Quebec.

I’m the owner of a gym for high level athletes in Drummondville called Institut du Guerrier. Right now, I’m living half-way between Montreal and Drummondville and I also have a place a Toronto because I mostly work there.

2. How did you become a stuntman?

I became a Stuntman by accident. I was always passionate about extreme sports and I've been practicing aggressive inline skating from a very young age. In the year 2000, an American movie called Rollerball came to shoot in Montreal, and they needed very high lever skaters.

I went to the audition that was held at the Taz, where I was working at the time. I got hired and this is how I discovered that it was actually possible to make a living doing stunts. Before that, it was never an option for me, I was studying business at l’UQAM.

3. What's the best and the worst part about being a stuntman?

The best part is being able to do something I like. It's always different, so it's great for someone like me who doesn't like having a routine.

You get to push yourself and meet interesting people. You get to do stuff that most people won't ever have the chance to experience, like crashing cars, having a full blown shoot out, or destroying walls and offices.

You get to visit incredible places, like when I went to shoot in the Rockies for the Revenant. You get to time travel and play and live like the people did back in the 18oo’s

The worst part is of course the injuries. The stunts are risky and there is a sense of insecurity because you never know when your next gig is going to come. It can be financially stressful.

4. What do you do when you're not working on a movie?

I’m usually at my gym training and running my business (Institut du Guerrier). I’m a big fan of watching movies and television shows, and also doing post production work and video editing.

5. What did you do before becoming a stuntman?

I’m lucky enough to say that I never had a regular job. I don’t know what it feels like. I was working at the skatepark giving rollerblading lessons when I was a Teenager and then started to do stunts. I’m proud to say that I’ve always followed my passion and was lucky enough to make a living that way.

6. What's the most painful thing that's ever happened to you? What was your worst accident?

No stuntman ever like to talk about that stuff, but it does happen.

I destroyed my ankle going threw a ceiling and landing 12 feet below.

Besides that I had bumps and bruises but I've been very very lucky…someone is looking out for me.

7. What celebrities have you worked with?

I’ve doubled Leonardo DiCaprio in the Revenant, I’ve doubled Michael Fassbender in the last X-men. Right now I’m doubling Jack Reynor in the next James Franco movie.

I’ve worked with Jennifer Lawrence, LL cool J, Jean Reno, Jason Staham, Laurence Fishburn, Jake Gyllenhaal, Jamie Foxx, Channing Tatum, Hugh Jackman and the list goes on.

8. Who was your favorite celebrity to work with? What was your favorite movie to work on?

One of my favorite movies to work on was X-Men: Apocalypse.

My favorite celebrity was Hugh Jackman, he was very nice and respectful with everybody.

9. What's the most memorable moment of your career?

Out of the countless great moments in my career, I would say it was the day I spent in a tent with Leonardo DiCaprio working out the last fight scene in the Revenant.

Fighting with him and learning of his experiences was definitely a great moment for me. He’s a great guy, very down to earth.

10. Do you have advice for someone who wants to become a stuntman?

Never stop training.
