Queer Canadian Woman Of Colour Lilly Singh Getting Her Own Late Night Show Has Celebs Cheering On Twitter
If you haven't already heard the news, Carson Daly is stepping down from his role as host of NBC's Last Call late-night show, and as a replacement, the television network has chosen a Canadian YouTube sensation to take over.
A Little Late with Lilly Singh is set to hit the airwaves in September and the host, Scarborough-born York University grad, Lilly Singh, will officially become the first queer woman of colour to hold the host position of a late night show.
And let me just say: the Internet is ecstatic about the news. Not to mention more than a handful of celebs.

TL;DR Celebrities are flocking to Twitter to congratulate Canadian Youtuber Lilly Singh on her new-found role as late-night host on NBC's new show A Litte Late with Lilly Singh, which makes her the first ever Canadian bisexual woman of colour to host a late-night show on a major American network.
Singh addressed the announcement herself on her Twitter earlier today.

Singh was born in Scarborough, Ontario and attended Lester B. Pearson Collegiate in Toronto.
Her parents were both born in Punjab, India and moved to Canada to raise her and her older sister, Tina, who also a creator on YouTube.

Singh took to YouTube to share her struggles with depression and to connect with people to help deal with her emotional and mental state.
She also shared with the Internet last month that she was bisexual.

After the announcement broke, people flocked to Twitter to congratulate the new late-night host, including long-time friend Nick Jonas and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
Singh was also present at the Jonas-Chopra wedding last year in India and you can see both Nick and Priyanka on Lilly's YouTube channel.

I've never been a huge late-night fan, but I think Jimmy Fallon is hilarious, and if all the hype around Singh is any indication, I'm going to have to tune in for her show in September.
