Fall is hands-down the most romantic season. Maybe it's the chilly air that's perfect for cuddling, or the feeling that winter is coming around the corner that kicks-in some biological urge to temporarily settle down and hibernate. Regardless, fall is prime time to take bae out on romantic dates and appreciate the outdoors before it becomes too god damn cool to do anything.
Here are some awesome low-key and lesser known spots around the city that aren't totally overcrowded with people that are perfect for the ideal fall date in Montreal.
At the very western tip of the island is the borough of Saint-Anne-De-Bellevue. "Bellevue" in French literally means beautiful view. This place always lives up to its name. Summer, spring, fall, or winter – the sunsets here light up the sky with a hazy orange glow that is pure romance.
There's nothing more romantic than a long and lazy weekend drive on a beautiful road. Driving to good music always makes conversation flow so naturally. A beautiful road for lazy Sunday driving can be found in the North Western part of the island in the town of Senneville. Not only will you find beautiful trees and waterfront views, but also some of the biggest mansions in all of Montreal are found in this area.
While you're on a romantic drive, why not hop on the Oka ferry with your car for a unique date idea. The ferry ride itself is only about 20-minutes, but it takes you across to the beautiful Oka area, which is a great spot for pumpkin and apple picking in the fall. The ferry is open until mid-november and there are departures leaving from each shore every 15-minutes.
If you want the country experience without actually having to go up north, just take a drive to Bois De Liesse Nature Park in Pierrefonds. It's only a 20-minute drive from downtown Montreal, and I swear you will feel like you took a 2-hour drive to the country.
There's a smaller and lesser-known look-out point right in the center of Montreal. This one is a very top of summit circle in Westmount where you will find some of the most beautiful homes in the city and amazing views of downtown Montreal. If you're short on time or don't have a car, this is the perfect spot for a romantic fall walk or drive.
Take bae out on an extra special romantic date to Strom Spa in Nuns Island. An experience as this spa will make you feel like you're miles away from the city when really it's just a quick 20-minute drive from downtown. The location of the spa will allow you to appreciate all the beauty and colours of fall.
If you want to appreciate fall in Montreal but you think Mont-Royal is totally overrated, head down to south-east of Montreal to the beautiful waterfront Rene Levesque Park. This quiet park is a hidden gem of the city. It's perfect for biking, walking, and running all year round, but fall is especially beautiful in this waterside park. Also, the quickly gentrifying area of Lachine is full of fun local restaurants and coffee shops to discover and explore afterward.
