Severe Damage In Quebec Caused By Intense Storm, Potential Tornado (Photos)

Several news outlets are now reporting that a tornado may have actually touched down in the Quebec town of Saint-Roch-de-l'Achigan in the Lanaudière region yesterday.

Much of Southern Quebec was met with severe thunderstorms throughout the afternoon and evening yesterday when conditions were perfect for escalating into a tornado.

Environment Canada and Urgence Quebec both issued Severe Thunderstorm Warnings throughout the morning yesterday, so luckily it would seem that no one was injured yesterday.

Video below shows the dynamic and swiftly changing clouds as the storm became to take form. You can also see a radar image that highlights the storm as it was passing through Montreal. Temperatures dropped drastically, though unfortunately, that didn't last.

While the temperatures tempered out momentarily, it remained muggy and hot in Montreal after the storm hit. Temperatures are expected to reach a high of 27 today, according to The Weather Network.

Several news teams were on the scene around Saint-Roch-de-l'Achigan after extensive damage was seen across the town. Photos below show the extent of that damage.

Still, as mentioned above, we can be grateful that for now, it seems no one was injured, despite countless trees and other massive structures having been torn to the ground.

When incidents like this happen Environment Canada is quickly also on the scene to assess the damage and define the kind of weather that occurred.

As for right now, it seems the Environment Canada teams are still determining what exactly went down in Lanaudiere last night, as there is currently no weather summary listed for Quebec on the Weather Summaries page.

We will, of course, update you if and when and significant summaries are released.
