TL;DR  Martin Prud'homme, chief of the Sûreté du Québec has just been suspended following criminal allegations.

Just over one year ago, Prud'homme became interim director of the Montreal police force after then-chief Philippe Pichet was suspended following reports of poor leadership and misconduct in the ranks of the SPVM.

No charges have been filed against Prud'homme while a government agency is leading an investigation into the most recent allegations. Quebec Public Security Minister Geneviève Guilbault confirmed the allegations this afternoon and made no further comments in a statement to the media.

Guilbaultcalled the situation "delicate, complex" and does not want to hamper the investigation before all the pieces are in order.

Prud'homme will be replaced by SQ Deputy Director Mario Bouchard while the investigation takes place.

Details are forthcoming.
