Suspicions were originally aroused after the item was found in front of a clothing store that had been targeted with a Molotov cocktail in March.

Police had originally closed Peel St. between St. Catherine St. and De Maisonneuve Blvd. before 6 a.m. to drivers and pedestrians.

The Peel St. and Cours Mont Royal exits of Peel metro station were closed.

The taking apart of the package by the police robot happened without incident.

In a nutshell, no explosive device was found.

Peel Street was re-opened at 8:45 am.
