Already in its 11th edition, burger festival Le Burger Week will be back this fall with over 1,000 participating restaurants. The two-week-long festival begins on September 1 and promises to be the "largest burger event ever held in Canada," according to a press release.

Traditionally, the burger festival has centred around real meat. This year, Le Burger Week is highlighting plant-based burger creations. "Over the years, we’ve noticed a strong demand for meat alternatives, such as vegetarian and vegan burgers – so here it is! Le Burger Week, plant-based!" said co-founder Na’eem Adam in a press release.

The foodie's dream that is Burger Week will be making its way back to Montreal this September, from the 1st to the 7th, so get ready to gorge yourself delicious burger after delicious burger. While we're still a few weeks away from the start of this glorious week, many of the participating restaurants have begun to release information about their tasty creations.

For anyone that isn't too familiar, Le Burger Week is a week-long burger contest with over 40 participating restaurants all around Montreal. Each one creates their own, unique burger which is then available for that week for Montrealers to taste and vote on for the "People's Choice" award. There's also a panel of official judges who select the "Judges Choice" burger.

Crazy poutine creations are pretty run of the mill nowadays, I mean, we even have a whole week-long food event devoted to the jazz'd up cheese-fry-gravy trinity. No one can really deny how amazing decadent poutines, and all those you can eat during Poutine Week, are simply amazing, though what we'd like to see is a poutine creation that is simultaneously simple while being out of the norm. What we want is the Double Cheese Poutine Burger by Food and Wine.

Burger Week meets Poutine Week in this power level over 9000 meal, which, when broken down, is really just a poutine combined with a cheeseburger. Like we said, it's a pretty simple idea that's definitely been done before, yet no Montreal resto (that we know of) actually serves this bad boy of a burger on the regular. Obviously this needs to change.

Combining two delicious foods is never a bad idea, especially when mac 'n cheese is in the mix. A full on beef burger has gotten mac-attacked, and the Mac & Cheese Stuffed Bun Burger is the delicious resultant.

We've seen a bun made out of cheese (Diablos BBQ's Burger Week winning Cheesus Burger) and Montreal's food trucks have been great at making magical mac & cheese sandwiches, but none compare to this dangerous creation.  One Montreal resto/truck needs to get on this level, and this looks like Le Cheese truck territory to me.

Move over Ramen Burger, the cronut is back to take over the top food trend spot. Thanks to a Toronto pastry shop the cronut has been remade as a savoury creation with a beef patty and bacon. It is the Cronut Burger.

Toronto-based Le Dolci, working with Epic Burgers and Waffles are the genuises behind this sweet and savoury concoction. Known as a Maple Bacon Jam “Cronut” Inspired Burger, or the Do-Cro Burger, this hot new food item is essentially just a cheeseburger with a cronut for a bun. Sounds simple, simply delicious that is.
