At this point, I think it's pretty safe to say that one of my passions in life is food; but did you know that I'm also a huge animal lover? When I was growing up, I had a miniature poodle who was basically my best friend - but she ran away a couple of years ago, and that's pretty much been one of the top five biggest heartbreaks of my whole life. For the longest time, I didn't want to get another pet. I wasn't ready to love again, TBH. And then I decided to take positive steps towards getting over this phobia, and bought myself a Betta fish.

I took really good care of him, but he still promptly died a week after purchase. I gave him a nice, big tank, full of Betta-friendly accoutrements; I fed him the appropriate amount every day, and followed a strict Betta regiment to make sure he was going to have a long, happy life. And he still bit the big one. It was a depressing week, my friends. A very depressing week. #RIPPastel.

Whoever said vegans can't have fun? It's not all soggy grains and vegetables for these folks. Vegan food, if done properly, can be delicious. And what better way to enjoy your conscious diet then by eating muffins, surrounded by kitties?

Introducing Cafe Venosa, a vegan, environmentally conscious establishment that seeks to aid the overpopulation of cats in Montreal. They have a constant flow of new cats coming in, because once one of their furry friends gets adopted, they immediately fill their place with a new kitty in search of a home. It's kind of a one-stop shop for all things awesome.

The concept of cat cafés began in Taiwan about 20 years ago and has spread rapidly all around the world since then. Luckily for us, Montreal is home to North America’s first cat cafés, and are Canada’s only permanent cafés of this kind. The first to open was Le Café Des Chats on St. Denis, quickly followed by Chat L’Heureux on Duluth. Both cafés have adopted all of their cats from Montreal shelters based on how well they get along with both other cats and humans.

All cat lovers (so the entirety of the internet) should all be getting prep'd for what will surely be like an early Christmas for feline-ophiles. We are, of course, talking about National Cat Day on October 26th, a day devoted to our four-legged friends and the folks who love them, sometimes (or often, lets be real) to the point of creepy.

Cat and coffee lovers in Montreal are getting a second venue where they can enjoy furry felines and caffeinated beverages in one convenient spot, as Montreal's 2nd cat cafe is finally going to open this Saturday, September 27th. We're not sure if the city truly needs another cat-coffee shop combo, but Café Chat l'heureux is opening regardless, so get jazzed. Hopefully this won't inspire a weird cat cafe turf war, although that does sound kind of hilariously amazing.

Felines and canines have battled over the hearts and minds of humans for thousands of years, with no winner in clear sight. Subjective analyses were the only way to determine a superior best friend to man, often made by biased parties, i.e. "cat/dog people." There has been no objective and quantitative measurement to figure out who is the more popular pet, until now, because, well, the internet.
