Montreal is slowly becoming a leader in the growing industry of electric cars and vehicles. Not only is the city now home to the largest electric car service centre on the continent, with plans to "electrify" the city's bus and taxi fleets, but Montreal may now be home to the next evolution of the electric car with The Tomahawk.

Montrealer Mike Kakogiannakis of Dubuc Motors SLC is the designer behind the Tomahawk, which is currently being marketed as the "first and only all electric sports car offering an extended range." The car's specs include being able to go from 0-60 in just over 3 seconds, reach a top speed of 140mph, and has an extended range of 275 miles, along with being the first electric vehicle with adjustable height air suspension.

Sorry to be blunt, but having to take a dump while riding the bus is not a cute situation. While your bowels get bustling, you're stuck on a jostling caravan filled with judgmental strangers who will hate you if you let out a peep of relieving gas, with no washroom in sight. All that would change if a Bio-Bus fueled by human waste were rolling on Montreal's streets.

There are badasses, then there is this woman, who is in a league all her own. Not okay with litter bugs tossing their garbage wherever they please, this Russian motorcycle decided to teach 'em all a lesson.

Bad news for mother nature and all pedestrians/cyclists (good news for drivers?) as the Metropolitan Transportation Agency (AMT) is putting the kibosh on Car Free Day, as announced on the AMT blog a few days ago.

Money woes and a lack of budget are cited as the main reason behind shutting down Car Free Day, which has been going on for the past 11 years. Cheers to Andy Riga for cutting out and highlighting the excerpt below, which outlines the AMT's decision:

Climate change has left the mainstream media spotlight as a hot button issue (you did all you could Al Gore!) but that doesn't mean the problem isn't a threat to the world, no matter what a certain Texan think. Not exactly tangible, the effects of global warming don't seem imminently threatening, and its kind of understandable some people shrug off the issue. A visit to World Under Water will change that.

Taking the very real dangers of climate change and applying it to cities across the globe, Montreal included, World Under Water aims to show people just what can happen if we do not heed environmental warnings. Focusing on flooding and the likely changes to global sea levels, World Under Water shows you a planet where the world is quite literally under water due to global warming, hence the name.

Vanier College in Saint-Laurent has taken a firm stance against the environmental hazards caused by disposable water bottles; the sale of plastic water bottles has been completely banned on the CEGEP's campus.

Montreal will be trying to set a new Guinness world record this Friday, April 18th. The city hopes to have the largest gathering of electric vehicles in one place, ever.
