It's official, the Garden of Lights is open to the public and the timing could not be better!
The next two weeks are going to be beautiful in Montreal and there's barely any rain in the forecast. So it's the perfect time time to spend an evening outside surrounded by magical glowing lantern sculptures.
We've been waiting for a long time, but now the wait is finally over! The Jardin des Lumieres, other wise known as the Botanical Gardens lantern festival open this week!
On September 8, the Garden of Lights will be open to visitors from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm until October 31.
But we recommend you only go after it gets dark out because although the lanterns are impressive during the day, there's nothing quite liker it at night once the lanterns are lit up.
"The dragon, symbolizing China, will be the star of the 25th edition of the lantern festival in the Chinese Garden. It will be accompanied by its nine offspring, protecting the newly restored pavilions. And around them will be flying red-crowned cranes, symbolizing the longevity of the friendship between Montréal and Shanghai."
The pavilion at the Botanical Gardens has been undergoing restoration, and now that the work is nearly complete, The Garden of light will finally be opening its doors to the public.
This year's theme is "Between and Sky and Water" and Dragons.
"The dragon, representing China as a whole, will be the star of the 25th edition of the lantern festival in the Chinese Garden. It will be accompanied by its nine offspring, protecting the newly restored pavilions. And around them will be flying red-crowned cranes, symbolizing the longevity of the friendship between Montréal and Shanghai."
The Gardens Of Light lantern festival starts September 8th until October 31 between 9 AM and 9 PM. However the the lanterns will only light up at night.
