Hot dogs have gotten some pretty bad press lately. Last week, the World Health Organization let the world know that hot dogs cause cancer, meaning the iconic Montreal food known as the "steamie" (a steamed hot dog with mustard, cabbage, and onions) do too. Lets be honest though, it's not like this made anyone stop eating steamies, but this new report might make you turn away from the dog entirely.

Clear Labs, an agency that analyzes foods on a molecular level, recently released "The Hot Dog Report," an in-depth study by on what is exactly inside a hot dog, released by their Clear Foods division.

It’s hard not to love the Pogo. The contrast between the savoury meat and the sweet cornbread which surrounds it makes for one of the finest foods on a stick around. Pogos are equally reliable and delicious.

Much loved and often eaten, the steamie/steamy/steamé (what is the official spelling?) is a Montreal food staple that is simply not rep'd as hard as poutine, smoked meat, or bagels. We can't really tell you why, because steamies are amazing, and super cheap, so it's about damn time the signature MTL hot dog had their very own city-wide food event. Get your buns ready for "Steamy Week."

Throwing foods into a sandwich or recreating dishes into wrap-form is pretty standard fair, and awesome, because it turns a plated dish into an easy to eat sammie of sorts. Often overlooked, especially in the realm of breakfast foods, is the hot dog design, which is basically the same process of remaking a dish into a hot dog. FrugalMomEh puts the under (hot) dog on top for breakfast with the Ultimate Breakfast Hot Dog recipe.

Crispy grated potato. gooey cheese, tomatoes, and (as is necessary for any breakfast food) eggs + bacon are piled atop a standard hot dog in a bun to create a whole new way to enjoy breakfast. Condiments aren't necessary to enjoy this hot dog, but lets be real, a squirt of sriracha is never a bad move.

Holy Cheezus, this is a hot dog of truly biblical-cheesy proportions. When you throw mac'n cheese onto a hot dog, the result can only be delicious (as Dirty Dogs has let us know first-hand) but when you add another layer of melted mozzarella to the mix, things get crazy-creamy in a good way. Just think of the cheese-goo line that would extend off that dog once you took a bite.

Jukebox Burgers are the hot doggers behind this cheese-filled creation, as part of the resto's new menu. Some other epic creations grace Jukebox's improved new menu (like the Breakfast Burger (pic below), Spicy Philly Poutine, and the Mojito Milkshake (on the right below)) but none caught our collective eye quite as much as the Cheesy Dog. It just looks so...sinful, in the best way possible.

Everyday is a toss-up as to whether you should eat breakfast or regular food, because, as well know, morning-eats are delicious anytime of the day. Thanks to California-based hot dog chain Dog Haus and their signature "Grand Slam," you never have to choose again.

A combination of the classic breakfast platter and a meaty dog (or sausage), the Grand Slam has the best of both breakfast and lunch food worlds. Smoked bacon, crispy tater tots, a slightly runny fried egg, and 100% black angus beef hotdog, all piled into a fluffly bun...sorry, I had to wipe some drool from my mouth.

Screw carbs, more protein. All the gym bros know what I'm saying, and so does the creator of the sausage-bun hot dog.

Since bread makes you fat, just sub in the pesky, boring, and carb-filled bun and replace your hot dog receptacle with a big ol' sausage cut down the middle. Throw in a hot dog and you got a low carb and full flavour creation.
