Being downtown is great for all kinds of shopping, except for fresh fruits and vegetables, as anyone living in the city's urban core has to haul ass to Jean-Talon or Atwater Market, another farmer's market just as far. Â Not anymore.
Today marks the official opening of Le Marché des ruelles, a new downtown farmer's market where you can buy seasonal produce on the cheap. Benches, fruit stands, and a juice bar will also be on-site, with traffic blocked off, to provide Montrealers with an escape from any urban hustle 'n bustle.
Le Marché des ruelles will be set up, starting today, on the southwest corner of St. Catherine street, just by Peel, in the alley between Harvey's and H&M (map). The downtown farmer's market will be open from 4pm to 7pm on every Thursday and Friday 'til September 12th.
Enjoy the convenience of fresh produce in Montreal's downtown core with Marché des ruelles, which could also be the best repurposing of an alleyway we've seen from the city yet.
