One of the many joys of springtime in Montreal, apart from the melting snow and the ability to, you know, stand outside comfortably, is being able to swing outside in the heart of the city.
Making their triumphant return this year are the musical swings at Quatrier des Spectacles, marking the start of festival season in Montreal. Custom-made for the Promenade des Artistes, the 21 Balançoires installation has been a huge success since their inception two years ago. So much so, there is a widely circulated meme that Montreal has swings for bus stops.
While the swings are located right next to Place des Arts metro station, they are not in fact the bus stop, so I don't recommend using them while you wait because you will miss your bus, but if you do have a little time to kill and have always fancied yourself as a bit of musician, swinging sets off muscial notes, and together form a melody.
21 Balançoires will be installed as of April 8 but will only last until June 1, so make sure you get your swing on before it's too late.
